Greetings Parents,
It's that time of year when our 3-5th graders are taking their FCAT's. Due to this we will not be having specials until Friday. Also, starting on April 26th our lunch schedule will be changed to 12:23-12:53 to accommodate the Kindergarten swim lessons. I ask that in addition to packing your child a lunch that you also send them to school with a snack as we will be having a snack break from April 26th-May 2nd.
Finally, the schedule for conferences will be sent home this Wednesday. I tried to match you with your preference and to do so I created an additional date (Monday May 2nd). If for any reason you cannot make the time in which you are placed please contact me so we can come up with a more convenient time. I look forward to meeting with all you to discuss your child's growth over the course of the year as well as how to ensure a successful year in 2nd grade. Again, thank you for your dedication to your children and being the best parents an educator can ask for! Have a great day and talk to you soon!

Greetings Parents,
I hope everyone is doing AMAZING! We have been learning many new skills and about a various range of topics! I am extremely proud of all the children and the progress each of them has made through out the course of the school year. As we near Spring Break 2011 I wanted to address you on upcoming events in our class.
First off on March 29th we will be taking a grade level field trip to the Ft. Lauderdale Science Museum to watch an IMax film about weather. This will be a great opportunity for our students to see what they are learning about. Field trip forms went home today and are due back by Friday March 11th. Any late slips will not be counted.
Next, DBE will be hosting our annual "Night at the Museum". This is a night in which each class shows off a particular area of study with in the area of Science. First grade will be talking about life cycles and our class will be learning about the life cycle of Fish. Your child should have came home with a document outlining the project and the due date. If you have any questions please contact me ASAP! The event will be held on March 31st and will be a great night for all the students of Dolphin Bay to show case their knowledge in the area of Science.
Lastly, our class will be starting a great competition. After our Spring Break I will be introducing a reading competition. Students will be given forms to fill in about a book they have read. Students are expected to do this with minimal parental help. I will be giving each child 5 sheets to start with. If you can please scan and print as more are needed. The students will have a point chart and once they complete the point chart they will be able to receive various prizes. As the whole class fills out the chart then they will all be rewarded with a pizza or ice cream party of their choice. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me!
In closing, I am extremely pleased with the growth of all the students and hope they continue with their successes as they progress forward in life. They are all capable of doing amazing things and it has been a true honor being their educator for the past two years. Greetings Parents,
We have had a rather stellar past few weeks in class! The children are learning about all sorts of things! This month we will be focusing on famous African Americans which will have the stuents complete their own research project due on the 18th. We also will continue our explorations in various areas of science, math, and reading.
Also, this past Friday we had our annual Field Day to which we owe a HUGE thanks to Ms. Maria. With out her the children would not ave had those AMAZING shirts and tons of yummy treats. Again, thank you Ms. Maria. Finally, please ensure your child comes to school with a book. We at the bay are starting a new initiative to get our youngsters reading. Everytime they are "caught" by an adult they get a dolphin dollar which can be used at our Friday store. This is a great way to promote reading! Please encourage your child to participate!

Greetings Parents,
I hope everyone had an AMAZING break and is rested for the remainder of the year! I have updated ALL the sections. In the Science and Social Studies sections they have been updated to include what will be covered over the whole 3rd quarter. Math has been updated to include what Chapter 7 will be covering, Reading will still go by week, and the homework will be updated every Friday. If you have any questions please email me!
